In 1911, a company was founded in Catalonia that impacted the region’s destiny like no other. It was Barcelona Traction, Light and Power, better known as “La Canadenca”. This company was a true adventure for many people, with successes and failures that have marked the DNA of Catalonia’s economy and its social sectors. This documentary narrates this adventure of epic proportions. This expansive documentary covers everything from the pioneers who, braving the wind and the cold, became obsessed with producing electricity from the waters of the Pyrenees, to the leaders of the labour movement who left their mark on great moments in history, such as the strike that achieved the 8-hour workday, to the inhabitants of the Pyrenees who saw how their landscape suddenly changed.
