The great adventure is a project that shows how we can also take amazing trips close to home.
We highlight this by creating transmedia content that takes advantage of the narrative possibilities of numerous platforms to amplify the reach of a specific challenge: to travel the trans-Pyrenean route in a different way.
We asked the documentary filmmaker and adventurer Álvaro Sanz to narrate the experience of crossing the Pyrenees in detail and on site, allowing viewers to experience and witness epic moments first hand.
The adventurers were the central characters in this great feat, but also the creators of the content, the photographs, the videos and the posts that were published daily on the profile of the magazine Descobrir, a part of our communication group.
The adventure was shared live on social media, and the entire story was crafted by combining the multiple platforms of this dynamic and exciting project.
The expedition’s experiences provided the content for a special issue of the magazine Descobrir.
The double issue, one of the best-selling in the magazine’s history, received the G! Award for Tourist Communication for the best depiction of the tourist values and attractions of Girona’s Pyrenees.

The great adventure
The culmination of the project comes with the screening of a six-episode documentary series for RTVE called Across the Pyrenees. The great adventure.
With a gorgeous cinematography style directed by Álvaro Sanz himself, the series shows the bucolic landscapes along the route and allows viewers to relive the daily life of the adventurers in a relatable, intimate and exciting story.
A new adventure
The success of the project has led us to create a new challenge with a new group of adventurers, led by Álvaro Sanz himself.
This time the route runs along the western side, from the Pre-Pyrenees to the Ebro River Delta. This unprecedented route has been named the Descobrir, or Discovery, Route, as a tribute to the 25th anniversary of the magazine Descobrir.
The second edition of The great adventure has already been published in the magazine Descobrir and we’ve started editing the four episodes of the new docuseries, which will be broadcast on RTVE in 2023.
