Sinaia, beyond the ocean

Documentary
2011

In May 1939, the Sinaia carried 1,800 refugees from the Spanish Civil War onboard from France to Mexico. It was the first in a series of ships that offered a new life to thousands and thousands of refugees. In this creative documentary we relive that heroic effort through the day-to-day journey aboard a merchant ship that follows the same route today as we listen to the witnesses who experienced that journey to a new world.
