LLUM, FOC, DESTRUCCIÓ!

The epic adventure of Dragon Ball in Catalonia.

2025

The unique story of how the anime series Dragon Ball conquered Catalan viewers and sparked a massive wave of admiration for everything that comes from Japan.

For 3Cat

A ROARING SUCCESS

The series surpassed one million views on the 3Cat platform in the first ten days.

The success of the documentary series was evident from the moment it was first shown on the 3Cat platform on 30 May 2025, with more than one million views in the first ten days.

The premiere was accompanied by several audiovisual pieces for social networks with original content that were launched before the premiere and then weekly for two months.

THE UNEXPECTED PHENOMENON OF SONGOKUMANIA

Dragon Ball’s arrival at 3Cat had a huge impact that still endures today.

Through the testimonies of those who experienced it firsthand, we reveal how Dragon Ball became a viral phenomenon before the internet era. The illegal trafficking of photocopies, the initial silence of the Japanese production company, the doubts of Editorial Planeta, the boost to the Catalan language… are some of the elements that are revealed in the series.

MAXIMISING THE RETURN OF DRAGON BALL TO 3CAT

A documentary to reinforce the return of a successful series.

The documentary series Llum, foc, destrucció! (Light, fire, destruction!) was also conceived as a way to support the return of the anime Dragon Ball to 3Cat, which had been hugely successful with Catalan audiences a few years earlier. Several premiere screenings were organised at specific events for the anime fan community, such as the Manga Barcelona festival and the BCN Film Fest’s Anime Day. These occasions were used to promote both the documentary series and the broadcast of the various Dragon Ball anime series on 3Cat.
