Encants, diary of a move

The Encants market forms part of Barcelona’s identity, it is an orderly chaos with a life of its own that has moved throughout the city for many years. In 2013, the life of the Encants was disrupted by the announcement that the market was moving to a new location for good. A team from Batabat followed this process for over a year, entering into the lives of vendors and customers, seeing how they experience this transition from temporary markets to modernity and reflecting on whether it’s possible to keep the marke’s identity alive this way.
