This documentary addresses the Majorcan Friar Juníper Serra, the man considered the founder of California, an individual little known in his own country, unlike in the United States, where his legacy stirs up both admiration and hatred. To make this journey from Mallorca to San Francisco, passing through Querétaro, we’ve relied on documentation, some of which has never been previously published, as well as interviews with the leading experts on the subject. In addition to interviews and archival documents, we’ve captured the mark that Juníper Serra left on California by following a family from San Luis Obispo in which one of the daughters, like all primary school students in California, must build a model of a mission.
